These two new works are new directions and are the result of my research and experimentation in the studio.

Like the tesserae, the ostraca, the pieces embedded in my mosaics, my memory is an archeological site in excavation.. These works reveal fragments of dismantled identities, captured through drawing and writing, and reconfigured as an action to destroy the past; a pulverization of preconceived perceptions.

Clarifying the multidisciplinary nature of mosaic as a medium….it is always already fragmented in terms of the way in which it consists of multiple media/processes. Understanding of the identity of mosaic as a medium entrains the possibility of using the idea or notion of mosaic as means of understanding identity itself.
